Sunday Service Setup
This article will help guide the Sunday Service Setup and any other time that the normal processes like the Sound System, Switcher Studio Streaming, and the In Service Powerpoint.
This article will only help with the setup process, not with any troubleshooting that may arise as a result of an issue. Contact Bob Strain or Nick Francica for Sound System. Contact Bob Strain for Switcher Studio. Contact Bob Strain or Sherrie Strain for In Service Powerpoint.
Sound System
In 2020-2021 Restoration implemented a new Sound System. Handle everything with care.
Turn the sound board on.
Switch on the main surge protector that is mounted in the black table rack to the left of the sound board.
The surge protector will turn on the sound board and everything mounted in the rack. These include the belt pack receiver and the 2 handheld mic receivers.
Turn the Main up to 0dB
Turn the Amp on.
It is important that the amp is turned on second. “Last on, First off”. The amp is the last to be turned on at the beginning of the setup. The amp is the last to get turned off at the end of the event. Walk over to the side room that is stage left, on the “Produce Junction side”, of the church. Entering from the stage, the amp will be to the left.
Turn the amp on with the switch on the front of the device.
Batteries, Wireless Mics, and Monitors
Batteries can be found in the side room. They will be on the charger, and should be returned after the service.
There are 3 mics that need batteries, a total of 6 batteries. The 2 singer handheld mics get 2 batteries each. The belt pack mic gets 2 batteries.
There are monitors that take 2 batteries each. Each musician should use an in ear monitor to properly hear from the sound system.
Adding a Mic
Contact Bob Strain or RJ Garrish.
You will need to know the input on the stage the mic is plugged into, or the input on the back of the board. Then, route the input to the channel you want to use for that source.
In-Service Powerpoint
Restoration uses an iPad connected to an Apple TV that projects the Powerpoint onto the front wall of the church.
The projector and the Apple TV
Turn the projector on with the remote. It is up in the balcony. The remote should be with the In-Service Powerpoint operator during the service.
The Apple TV will turn on automatically with it. The Apple TV remote is up in the balcony as well.
The iPad
The In-Service iPad is the smaller of the two iPads in the faux leather case.
The iPad should have already have the powerpoint on it made up by Sunday Morning. You will open the Powerpoint app and navigate to the dropbox folder with the file.
Connect the iPad to the Apple TV via screen mirroring. Before starting the powerpoint, swipe down from the top right to open the control panel menu. Choose screen mirroring, the icon will look like 2 rectangle screens. Select “Sanctuary”. It should connect automatically, however in some circumstances a code will project on the screen for you to input as a passcode.
Start the powerpoint presentation.
Make sure to close the powerpoint document AND the app at the end of the service. This will resolve a potential issue for the next week. Close the document AND the app.
Switcher Studio
Since Summer of 2020 Restoration has used Switcher Studio for live streaming. Bob Strain is the original implementer of this strategy.
The iPad
The Switcher iPad is the larger of the two iPads. It is an iPad Pro. Plug the iPad into the sound board with the USB-C cable that connects to 2 3.5mm audio cables. Open the Switcher Studio App. If the assets are loaded you’ll need to add them.
Cameras
Switcher runs on 2 iPhone cameras.
Open the Switcher mobile app.
Set up the 2 cameras in their appropriate positions around the sanctuary
Switcher Studio App
Contact Bob Strain, Lou Eble, or RJ Garrish for use.
Loading the Assets
If the iPad hasn’t been loaded for assets yet you will need to add them. Open Dropbox. Navigate to the correct folder. Save the pictures to the Photos app.
Re-open Switcher, press the blue “+” button at the bottom. Navigate to the photo you are importing. You will need to add each asset individually.
Next being connecting the cameras. Deselect built in iPad camera first. Connect Center camera then Side camera.
Set the title of the streamed video.
“SERMON TITLE - Day of the Week, Month DD, YYYY”
Set the “Cross Dissolve” transition for .5 seconds.
Stream starts 5 minutes before the service starts. Start stream at 10:10am.
